Day 62:  What’s your dream?

Day 62.  The postcards are here!  The postcards here!  They’ve been in development since January 24th.  With input from College Desk columnist Alex to Aunt Wanda and Uncle Fred to sister Lori and friends Lori, Tim, Cindy and Brenda to Beautiful Bride, the postcards are finally done and here, in my possession. Day 61:  A Mixed Bag

Day 61.  “Oh, Dan.  I’m so sorry.  Our best to you and your family,” my partner writes in an email to Dan the Amazing Editor Man last night.  He had just let us know that if we don’t hear from him for a few days it’s because of the impending loss of his mother.  My heart flinches, my stomach knots, tears well.  Dan the Amazing Editor Man is barely 30.  He is one of the nicest kids I’ve ever met.  Yes, you get to call anyone under 40 a “kid” if you’re over 40.  Apparently his mom has been battling an illness for years.  I can’t imagine that that helps Dan the Amazing Editor Man or his family.  I think it might even make it harder.  When someone seems to beat the...

Thinking outside the box inside the box should be a required course.  To me it means getting to where you want to be no matter what stands in your way.  It’s about realizing your limits and creating from inside of them anyway.  As a freshman working my way through my second semester, I realize this way of thinking is especially important to college students.  In college we are trying to figure out what we are trying to ultimately become—what’s “outside the box”—how we become it and how we overcome our limits and make them work for us in a positive way.  Life is a path and certainly not an easy one to navigate.  There are always going to be obstacles.  The creativity and...
