Day 132: An Irish Blessing

Day 132.  I did it.  I completed my fast motion crusade with three days to spare.  In the words of Bluto from Animal House, “Holy Shit!”  Yes, I’m weeping.  I’m not sure it will really dawn on me until I wake up tomorrow and I don’t have to go sit in front of the Avid all day and night.  Wow.  I’m in shock.  I truly didn’t know I had it in me.  I started the original crusade to finish my editing work back on Day 86 with the goal of 30 scenes in 10 weeks—three scenes a week.  I was not confident I would be able to finish even in that time frame.  Then I kicked the crusade into fast motion on Day 119 when a surprise trip came up and lit a motivational fire under my ass.  But still, I certainly lacked confidence about reaching the fast motion goal of 13 scenes in 15 days.  Who knew?  Not me.  I have totally and completely surprised myself.  Makes me stop and wonder how often I underestimate what I’m capable of.

This is probably the point where I should make something very clear.  The documentary is NOT done.  Not by a long shot.  But now it has a fighting chance.  The work I just completed is key to getting the documentary done, but again, it did not finish it.  That’s where Dan the Amazing Editor Man comes in.  My original plan was for Dan to always be only three scenes behind me.  With the passing of his mother at the end of March and his going back to a show full-time not long after, that plan went out the window.  He is now 34 scenes behind me.  I need to work on that.  But not right now.  Nothing can bring me down at this moment in time.  Although I’m exhausted, I’m thrilled.  I’m also incredibly relieved that I actually pulled it off.  I really didn’t want to let myself down.  And I didn’t.  That feels nice.

Shamrock motivation!

Now I can finally let myself get excited about and focus on the surprise trip with Uh-mazing Romantic Partner that started this whole whirlwind.  We’re flying to Dublin, Ireland on Monday.  Talk about an Irish blessing.

May your days be many and your troubles be few.
May all God’s blessings descend upon you.
May peace be within you, may your heart be strong.
May you find what you’re seeking wherever you roam.

Until tomorrow, create from what you have…you’re capable of it.
