Aer Lingus
Day 141. Arrived safely at Heathrow via Aer Lingus. Quite a nice airline. Too easy to have fun with the name though. Yes, I’m a 16-year old boy at heart. We took the tube to the Hyde Park stop where we jumped off and were basically right at our hotel, The Lanesborough. After our afternoon tea in the room we set out on foot and explored Hyde Park. So beautiful! We stopped by some old haunts of Uh-mazing Romantic Partner from when he studied abroad here 25 years ago.
We didn’t have much gas left in the engine after our walk about so we had dinner in the hotel’s restaurant, Apsleys. Incredible food, incredible service. We closed the place down. At the end of the meal I got an email from the director I met with before I left. She had finished reading the script I gave her. It totally took me out of vacation mode and threw me back into producer mode—in a good way. Although she did not give a glowing report or have an ideal connection to the material, her sincerity and thoughtfulness were evident. This got me ridiculously excited about the projects waiting for me and actually making my movies once I get back home!
Oh I totally forgot! Hello! Hold the freakin’ phone! Writing about last night reminds me that we got a phone call at the Admiral’s Club from Dan the Amazing Editor Man right before we got on the plane. We were a little surprised considering it was the day after Mother’s Day. After more condolences were given to him, he let us know he is not only back on board but he also has a new ace intern who is excited to work on the project as well. Oh happy day! Woo hoo!!!! My documentary’s next stage has officially begun. It was the perfect news to kick off the trip.
Feeling excited and English
So here I am, sitting in my lovely English hotel room not only excited for the day ahead—there’s so many places to go—I’m also off the charts excited about getting back home and moving full steam ahead with my new venture. Oh, I can only imagine the places it’ll all go!
“You’re off to great places! You’re off and away! You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go.” –Dr. Seuss, “Oh, The Places You’ll Go”
Until tomorrow, create from what you have…your decision where to go.
