In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 273: Writing Muscle

Day 273:  I mentioned yesterday that A Little Bit Touched If You Know What I Mean Friend and I started a daily writing exercise of giving our screenplays 30 minutes of attention a day.  No pressure to actually write anything, no page quotas to hit, just 30 minutes of our attention on the project—whatever that means to each of us.  The first week went really well so we decided to do another.  I insisted we take off the weekends because every day felt like too much—I already have a lot of stuff I have to do every day.  Well, I got an email from A Little Bit Touched If You Know What I Mean Friend this morning and after I had replied to her, it got me thinking about my script.  And an idea came to me.  I cracked it open with the intention of just jotting down the idea for the scene and making a few notes so I could work on it on Monday during my half hour of attention time.  Nothing more.  I ended up writing the notes plus one whole new page in just about 30 minutes!  I was not looking at the clock so I didn’t intend to write for that amount of time, it just seemed to happen.  So interesting.  Perhaps we’re creating a habit?  Building a muscle?  I don’t know for sure.  But I like it!

Until tomorrow, create from what you have…writing muscles to build.
