In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 286: Crusade Restart!

Day 286:  So, not long ago, back on Day 278,  I softly began a new editing crusade for my documentary.  Well that promptly got booted by immediate and impending events and obligations namely the AG graduation, the Tyler Perry audition and the Declare Your Dream Experiment Discussion.  Now, it’s time to start again.  A restart if you will.  I’m not going to sugar coat it.  I’m behind—really far behind.  At this point, I’ll be up all night editing to personally give Santa his milk and cookies.  Actually, I’ll be lucky if I can finish all of the scenes before the clock strikes midnight and 2013 begins!  Deep sigh.  But finish I must!  Really?  Do I have to?  Hmmmm, there seems to be some resistance going on here.  I have no sense of urgency.  Why am I editing this film?  I’m editing it so I actually finish it but no one really cares whether I finish it or not.  Why does it matter?  Good question.  Why does it matter, Kel?  The first thing that popped into my gut was a feeling—a wave of emotion.  The kind I get when I know something is important.  The thought that followed was one word:  Empowerment.  I truly believe at the end of the day this film will help young people and teenagers feel empowered—that they can do anything—that they can change the world.  There you have it.  And that is why it matters to me to finish this film.  I want to give the film the opportunity to go out into the world and inspire and empower young people, teenagers and their parents to create positive work and change in their lives and communities.  So that’s that.  I must restart my editing crusade efforts right now.  If you need me, I’ll be at the Avid.

Until tomorrow, create from what you have…Restarts.
