In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 335—Another No Editing Day

Day 335:  Yeah, that’s none, even for now…again…in terms of edited scenes for the doc.  Okay, in my defense, we’re in a bit of a crunch for film project number one and getting some work out the door by Monday.  It has completely hijacked my editing flow for the last three days.  Only partially due to the work of it, mainly due to the excitement.  No, my focus is not laser right now.  I’m not going to lie, I’m not sure when I’m going to be able to concentrate on finishing (even for now) these last four scenes when I was supposed to finish them by the end of this weekend!  Deep sigh.  I’m going to try and get back to scene 34 tomorrow.  But I just scheduled an all day...

In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 334—Another Movie Day!

Day 334:  I am not batting a thousand with getting back to my doc editing!  Sheesh.  I’ve still got four scenes to go.  Deep sigh.  What happened today was I just had a bunch to do for film project number one.  Lots of exciting news and fun stuff going on.  I’m still not quite ready to make any official announcements yet.  It will be coming soon. In the meantime, I can let you know and prepare you that I will be asking you all for money, goods and/or services very soon!  For example, I called my wonderful dentist of over a decade, Dr. Beverly Woss, this afternoon and asked her if we could shoot a scene at her office and, not only that, would she play the dentist...

In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 333—Meetings

Day 333:  Today was a wash on the doc editing because I was in meetings all day.  The first one was for the first film project and it went great and long…9:15am to 2:15pm.  We met with a new team member who is an amazing location manager but has mad logistics producing and creative skills as well.  He was so nice plus he really knew his shit.  Awesome guy.  He is generously helping us in anyway he can.  Love you, KC! The second meeting was for the second film project and it was just lovely.  It was with Screenwriter Cindy and a close friend and advisor of hers who is an advocate for her and for the project.  She generously wants to help in anyway she can because she...

In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 332—Four to go!

Day 332: Scene 33 is done…for now.  I don’t feel super great about it but, I’m going to give it a “woo hoo” anyway.  Woo hoo!  Four scenes to go. Up next:  Scene 34. Well, actually, up next right this minute is reading Screenwriter Monica’s new pages she just sent and prepping for a meeting with my new director and co-producer tomorrow morning for film project number one.  As soon as I have more time and we know when our shoot dates are I’ll start making official announcements about the team we’re assembling.  It’s all quite fun and exciting but things change so quickly and can come and go in the blink of an eye.  I’ve just been rolling with the...

In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 331—Personal Day

Day 331: Scene 33 is not done.  All I managed to do today was watch down the string out.  In my defense, today was the last day I got to hang with Uh-Mazing Romantic Partner before he takes off in the morning for over three weeks.  So, yes, I’m already behind on getting my five scenes done this week.  Deep sigh.  Oh well.  It was worth it.  I needed to take a personal day. Until tomorrow, create from what you have…a personal day. In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 330—Five to go!

Day 330: Scene 32 is done!  For now.  Woo hoo! I am officially taking scene 1, the opening, scene 14, the meltdown, and all of the small fixes in scenes 6, 12, 25 and 28, 30 and 31 off my plate…for now.  That means, I’ve got five scenes to go.  Holy guacamole!  I’m so happy right now. The plan is to do these last five this week and go full time on pre-production on film project number one on December 3rd.  We shall see! Until tomorrow, create from what you have…fingers crossed. In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 329—Not my best but it counts!

Day 329: Scene 31 is done…for now.  Really, it’s just done for now.  It isn’t one of my best scenes but it’s got in it what we need.  What we’re not sure of is how the scene will start and end and how much of it we’ll end up keeping in the final movie.  So, I’m not going to spend more than two days with it…well, really just two halves equaling an entire day.  But still, two calendar days nonetheless. Moving on. Up next:  Scene 32. I’ll start it tomorrow.  Even though it’s only 3:15pm, I put in a full day today.  I started editing at 5:30am with only one break to eat lunch.  So no guilt here!  Oh, we didn’t end up watching the batman movie last night.  We watched...

In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 328—Half Day

Day 328:  I took Thanksgiving completely off from the editing!  Woo hoo!  Honestly, I needed a full day away.  It had been awhile.  I spent the day with people I love and ate way too much food.  Oh how glorious it was. Today I clocked in around 11, took a break at 1pm for an amazing lunch prepared by Uh-mazing Romantic Partner, went back to editing for a bit, took a nap, edited for about another hour and now I’m clocking out before 5pm to have a cinnamon roll and watch the Dark Knight Rises, or whatever it’s called. So, long story short, scene 31 is not done.  It’s far from done.  For starters, I’m building it pretty much from scratch.  This one hasn’t been touched...
