In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 326—Moving on!

Day 326:  Producing Partner and I just watched down my cut of scene 30.  I fizzled out a little in the last few minutes of it with massaging my interview bite placement but he really liked it.  We made a few notes of things he’d like to tweak when he takes his pass, nothing major.  So, it’s done, for now, and I’m moving on! Up next:  Scene 31. Counting meltdown scene 14 and missing scene 20 but subtracting scene 35 which Producing Partner and I agree is already a strong cut that is done for now, and not counting the opening (scene 1) because that will get cut last or all the small fixes to be done in scenes 6, 25 and 28 that Producing Partner can do in his pass, I have...

In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 325—Still not done!

Day 325:  Wow.  Scene 30 is kicking my ass old school style.  It’s still not done!  I gave it a good 9 hours today but still, couldn’t quite pull it off.  I’ve got my reality cut done and my interview string out done.  Next, I have to marry the two to get to an actual cut.  Deep sigh. I will be back on the case of scene 30 and hopefully finish it—for now—tomorrow afternoon.  Tomorrow morning I have a meeting with my new director and a potential producing partner for film project number one.   Although, I literally just got an email from Screenwriter Monica—who is working on the final rewrite—and she’s just gone through an unexpected and very difficult loss this...

In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 324—None done today.

Day 324: Scene 30 is not done.  Even for now. I got it started but I did not finish it. It’s still on the to-do list for tomorrow. Not good but what are you gonna do? And now, I’m going to sleep.  I’m so tired. Hoping tomorrow is more productive. Until tomorrow, create from what you have…days where nothing gets done. Morning Motivation — Are you shifting with the seasons?

Posted by

Are you shifting with the seasons?   The leaves are turning colors, dropping off and signaling the shifting of the seasons—a change.  Transitions can be bumpy, upsetting, discombobulating.  Instead of fighting it, welcome it.  Roll with the flow of the change from one form to the next.  Be a shape shifter, an open mind, a time traveler, a mystic.  Life is always shifting, changing colors, dropping off, coming back—ebbing and flowing.  Shift with it. Shift with the season. Create from it. What are you going to create?   ...

In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 323—My favorite number!

Day 323: Not one, not two, but THREE scenes are done!  For now.  So, it turns out my Dream Editing Team actually did a great cut of scene 27.  I knocked off scene 28 today and scene 29 was already strong, too.  Woo hoo! Oh how I love the number 3! 13 to go.  That’s what I’m talkin’ bout. Up next:  scene 30. Until tomorrow, create from what you have…the number three. In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 322—Missing Scene!

Day 322:  Scene 26 is done!  For now.  That’s the good news.  The bad news is I realized we didn’t include a scene we know will be in the movie on our master revised structure scene list!  So, one more scene down, one more added.  Now, there is somehow 16 scenes to go when a few days ago there was only 15 to go.  I seem to be swimming against some kind of unseen current.  No matter how long I paddle forward for, I just keep getting swept back to where I started.  Deep sigh. Well, for one thing, I keep putting a “not done” box around scenes that I know I have to go back into and do more work on.  For example, meltdown scene 14.  And then there’s the missing scene I just...
