Day 321: I had to go to the Post Office to mail a script to the Library of Congress this week. Things are getting legit. So, it’s time to get a copyright. While I was there I decided to check the PO Box. The last two visits had been a bit disappointing. When I opened up the box it was completely dry in the dream department. I honestly had given up. I was thinking our dreams were drying up since the bonanza of the Declare Your Dream Discussion and Workshop. Well, think again! This time I opened the box to discover six new dreams and a letter to us about the dream experiment! I was so taken off guard I literally flushed red with excitement and of course, started...

Read MoreDay 320: What an awesomely creative and ridiculously fun day I just had? Woo hoo! I met with my new director and Unexpected Amazing Mentor for our first official creative meeting for film project number one. Way too much Nutella was consumed but we got through the script and our collective thoughts and notes were gathered. I had a list of seven topics I wanted us to cover. We got through two—the two most important ones to move things forward. Not bad, I say, not bad! Next up is a meeting tomorrow night with Screenwriter Monica to give her notes and shepherd her on her way to start this next rewrite to get us to a shooting script. Fun, fun, so much fun! Until...

Read MoreDay 319: I had the best intentions to get back to scene 25 today and finish it. That did not happen. Today was all about my first film project. This morning I had a meeting with Dear Friend. Dear Friend just happens to be an amazing producer from back in the day and I needed to know if I needed her, would she dust off those mad skills and help me out as a part of my production team? Luckily, she was very kind and generous and is happy to help in anyway she can. Yesterday I had lunch with Joie de vivre and pretty much had the same conversation with her. She is actively one of the best producers in this town and she, too, luckily, was very kind and generous and is...
Read MoreDay 318: Scene 24 is done! For now. I did one scene today—one very easy, “it was already a solid cut by Dan the Amazing Editor Man or Producing Partner I’m not sure which” scene—but technically, I knocked off three! Why? Well, as I get deeper into the story, it becomes clearer when certain scenes just aren’t going to make it in the final cut. I’ve been suspecting this for a while but finally brought it up to Producing Partner this afternoon and he agrees. Scenes 26 and 28: GONE. Which means, that’s two less scenes I have to go in and edit for this pass. What a gift! It’s Christmas morning right now. Woo hoo! 15 scenes to go. The night is young. I’m going to...
Read MoreCan you open your heart? Once hurt it’s easy for that pain—if you hold onto it—to turn into a wound that never heals. Who hurt you? Who are you still angry at? Let go of the grudge. Turn a wrong into a right. Take back your power from the toxic strangle hold hate has on you. Free yourself by opening your heart. Open your heart. Choose love. Create from it. What are you going to create?...
Read MoreDay 317: Scene 23 is done! For now. Sheesh, that one took a long time to knock off! Truth is, I’ve been quite distracted for the last 72 hours. I had a meeting on Friday with a potential director for the first film project. My original director moved back to New Jersey thus the need for a new one. It’s all quite exciting. I’ll have more details and an official announcement of what the heck is happening very soon. But in the meantime, despite the exciting distraction, I’m staying focused on my documentary editing. Up next: Scene 24. Until tomorrow, create from what you have….distractions and focus. Kelli Joan Bennett is a filmmaker, actress, writer, entrepreneur,...
Read MoreAre you being stubborn? Change is easy for some, not so easy for others. Either way, it is the one thing you can always count on. Is there something in your life you’re refusing to change even though it’s outdated or unhealthy or not working for you anymore? Don’t be stubborn, open up your mind and change it! Is it time to let go of that habit? Is it time to change your mind? Is it time to stop that practice? Is it time to end that fight? Is it time...
Read MoreDay 316: Scene 23 is NOT done. I did fire up the Avid today, watched the cut we have—awful—assessed the damage and what needs to happen. This scene is really three scenes in one. Just like scene 20 that I split up and turned into two scenes—scene 20 and scene 22—this one has to separated out and turned into two scenes: Scene 23 and Scene 32. Still up next: Scene 23. One step forward, one step sideways. Until tomorrow, create from what you have…things undone.
