In the Trenches—Day 1 Year 2: Happy New Year and Here I Go…Again!

Day 1 Year 2:  Happy New Year and here I go…again!

Today is the first day of year two in what has now officially become a two-year experiment in prolific creativity.  Why?  Because I’m not done!  Not even close.  With anything!  Seriously.  I didn’t get anything I set out to create completely created—except for 366 daily reports.  I don’t even have my dental implant done—I’m still missing a tooth!  Sheesh.  Thus, there’s a new theme in the mix for Year 2:  COMPLETION!  That’s right, completion is the goal.  I will continue thinking outside the box inside the box and creating from wherever I am with whatever I have but there is a specific focus now:  to complete the creations I started in 2012!  (And yes, to complete the creation I started in August of 2007 as well.)

Here I go…again!

“Go big or go home,” as the saying goes.   I went big in 2012.  And, I failed.  So what?  I’m not going home.  Or giving up.  I’m going to go big again in 2013 and dive over the cliff!  Maybe I’ll surprise myself and be able to fly.  Or, at the very least, maybe I won’t die when I crash and burn!  I’m doubling down on me, on my projects, on my dreams.  Wow.  I’m just as nervous as I was on Day 1 of year 1!  Probably because there’s a ridiculous amount to do in the next 12 days before we start filming—from lines to production meetings to catering to wardrobe.  And, probably because succeeding in the face of failure isn’t so easy or all that pleasant.  Succeeding in spite of failure…that’s another interesting paradox.

Even though I didn’t finish what I started, a failure, I feel like the year was a huge success for me in ways that I’m pretty sure I’m not even aware of yet.  So, just like Thelma and Louise—one of my all time favorite movies directed by one of my all time favorite directors, Ridley Scott, and by a screenwriter, Callie Khouri, whose Oscar acceptance speech inspired me to start writing in the first place—I’m going to, “…keep goin’!”  Who’s with me?!?!?

Thelma: [with a cliff in front of them and cops behind them] OK, then listen; let’s not get caught.
Louise: What’re you talkin’ about?
Thelma: Let’s keep goin’!
Louise: What d’you mean?
Thelma: Go. [nods ahead of them]
Louise: You sure?
Thelma: Yeah.

I’m sure, too.  Hit it.

Until tomorrow, create from what you have…and keep going!

  1. So, I just have to ask… where was the failure?

    • I love you! 🙂

Technically, “the failure” was in not reaching my goals in the time frame I set for myself. Granted, that time frame was INSANE. LOL. But now the plan is to simply keep going until I’ve reached completion of all of my films! No more time limits for me…no more limits period. 🙂

  2. Yes! Keep doing what you’re doing and going in the direction of love! And, remove the word failure from your vocabulary! There’s no such thing.

    Love you, brilliant creator!

    • Consider it removed! And remind me of that word removal when I forget. 🙂
