Creating 2015—Day 22:   What Are My Goals?

Good question!  I have traveled a lot in the last three months—to Chicago, Miami, Missouri, New Hampshire, Cancun, and most recently, San Francisco and Napa Valley.  Traveling is such an incredible gift and something I love to do.  It’s a priority for me to try and see as much of the world in this lifetime as I can.  But I’m tired!  Travel may be amazingly expansive and restorative and inspiring, but it can wear you down after awhile.  So, for now, it’s time to stop, get grounded and focus on what the hell I’m doing with my life!  In other words, it’s time to get serious.

There is a lot of talk about goals coming at me from many different sources lately.  It’s a sign!  I need to set some.  Off the top of my head, I MUST finish my film Collusions and put it out into the world this year.  But that’s nothing new.  I’m a funny one with setting goals.  I don’t like to set a goal unless I know I am ready to actually accomplish it.  I know, I know, it took me three years to reach my goal of editing my documentary High School 911…but I got it done!  It’s a head game thing.  I have to have my head on straight, my mind made up, and a clear vision for how I can actually do what I want to do.  Even if it’s a marathon—literally or figuratively—I need to have my head wrapped around the general map to start running the course.

Trying to get my head on straight about setting my goals for 2015!

Trying to get my head on straight about setting my goals!

I started off the year with a vague theme: New Beginnings. I love the sound of it.  It feels right.  Now I just have to figure out what new things I am beginning and actually set a goal to begin them!  Sounds simple, right?  But I’m finding it’s not!  At least for me right now.  I have to work on that.  January is almost over! How did that happen?

My focus for the next few days is going to be on thinking about, examining, dialing in, and finally, setting my specific goals for this year and making an initial plan to accomplish them.  I’ll report back what I come up with on Monday!

Until tomorrow, create from what you have…goals to set.
