Creating 2015—Day 54:   Website Down, Rain & Thai Food

I spent the entire day in front of my computer working.  The day started rather stressfully when writer, producer, director, actor extraordinaire John David Hartfield from New Street Pix called me to tell me our film project The Member and Me’s website was down.  He was all, “I guess we let it go?”  Uh, no, we did not let it go, we are paid up and the site should be up and running!  Grrrr.

After a rather frantic email to our website designer, the multi-talented, multi-hyphenate Denise Plumb from Seedless Pictures, asking if it was on her end (it was not) and being on hold for a half hour with our hosting service, I finally get a nice guy in billing to help me sort it all out. Turns out I hadn’t verified the website and ICANN suspended it.  I never got the email they sent notifying me I needed to verify because it went to some random email on our privacy protection plan.

Crisis diverted, website saved!  The Member and Me’s very outdated website lives!  I love it though.  It cracks me up every time I go visit it and watch Joan and David doing their thing.  In fact, John and I decided this happening was a sign.  We need to finally make the damn movie!  Which is based on our satirical self-help book of the same name.  I already have My Next Film slated for production in 2015, Death Over 3 Bottles of Wine, and John is busy with his TV pilot Contingency, so, the plan is to finish developing the screenplay for The Member and Me and start putting the prelim team together in 2015 and we’ll shoot it in 2016. Boom.

Anyhoo, it was uncharacteristically raining all day in, “it never rains in southern California.” The kind of weather that makes me want to curl up with a book.  Even though the meteorological conditions weren’t terribly motivating, I resisted the urge to do nothing and instead I got pretty much everything done I wanted to get done today.  Since I had no food in the house and no desire to stop working long enough to drive anywhere in the rain, I ordered some Thai food from a local restaurant.  It was terrible but I was starving so it went down easy.

Until tomorrow, create from what you have…down websites, rain & Thai food.
