Creating 2015—Day 50:   Hitting A Wall

My last experience skiing wasn’t good.  It was day two of being on the slopes.  The first day I was a total rock star.  I graduated from the bunny slopes to the real slopes in no time.  At the start of my second day skiing, I was riding the lift up to a run I had just done brilliantly the day before and it came time to slip off the chair and ski to the start of the slope.  I was at the edge of the seat and went to jump off but my legs didn’t move.  Uh-mazing Romantic Partner easily glided off the chair and skied away to where you’re supposed to go.  I was left behind. It was such a bizarre moment.  My mind commanded my legs to get the hell off the moving ski lift,...

Creating 2015—Day 49:   Accomplishment Group For Women

My life coach—yes, I have a life coach, more on that in another post—Andrea Quinn is starting new Accomplishment Groups in March.  Just want to share the announcement with you!  I took her Quinn Essentials, 9 Tools to Help You Accomplish Anything, program back in 2012 when I was doing my yearlong Experiment in Prolific Creativity and it was fabulous.  It was a part of me doing things differently to get different results that year and it worked!  I finished the program in October of 2012 and I shot my first feature film Collusions in January 2013.  I highly recommend it! Here’s the info to check it out… Until tomorrow, create from what you have…things to...

Creating 2015—Day 48:   Oscar Nominated Documentary Watch—Citizen Four

Holy crap!  What a mind-blowing movie.  I suddenly feel the urge to take up learning how to use a bow and arrow.  Our future is probably not too far from The Hunger Games—a dystopian society and then some.  How much time before we are all Katnisses and Peetas trying to survive in district 12?  Our every move recorded and monitored and manipulated by President Snow?  Not long according to the Oscar nominated documentary film Citizen Four. When Edward Snowden initially comes on camera I blurt out, “He’s a traitor!  I think he’s a traitor!”  It’s a knee jerk response.  I come from a family of hard-core patriots in Republican upbringings mind you.  You don’t talk shit...

Creating 2015—Day 47:   50 Shades of Grey

Uhmmmm, what can I say?  We broke down and went with the masses to see 50 Shades of Grey today.  I’ve never read the books.  I had heard the movie was pretty awful so I had low expectations.  What I did expect was that it would be dark and sexy.  I can’t say I found it terribly sexy or that dark.  Instead, I found it long.  And just like with Magic Mike not having enough sexy dudes dancing, 50 Shades didn’t have enough kinky sexy time in it!  I liked Dakota Johnson.  And I didn’t mind the guy who played the dominant Grey.  That poor bastard is being eviscerated in reviews.  He wasn’t that bad!  Yes, he was a little flat in his performance but I thought he was cute and...

Creating 2015—Day 46:   Cleanse Fail

We started the Clean cleanse two weeks ago.  We did great for the first five days. Then we started making a few compromises for the next seven days—a breakfast of eggs here, a late steak dinner there—nothing egregious but definitely modifying the Clean cleanse rules.  Then yesterday, we completely fell off the Clean wagon and had a critical cleanse failure. We had an edit day for Collusions and we wanted to soften the blow that everyone was coming together to work on Valentine’s Day so, I picked up cheese Danishes, mini pink cupcakes and boxes of heart shaped chocolates.  We also made the mistake of not having a protein shake before we left the house. Yes, you guessed...

Creating 2015—Day 44:   Working Weekend Number 2

I pretty much took today off.  And it was glorious!  My reasoning was that we’ll be working pretty much all weekend.  Tomorrow we are meeting with our editor for Collusions to finalize the opening title sequence of the movie.  It’s one of the last big puzzle pieces missing.  It wasn’t missing back when I thought we locked the cut at the end of June last year but it is missing now.  Long story.  Sunday we have to finish organizing the last bits of paperwork for the documentary and keep knocking off items on the to-do list.  And, next week is a non-stop working week so I needed a day.  And I took it.  Wheeeeeee! Until tomorrow, create from what you have…a day off. Kelli...

Creating 2015—Day 43:   Reading Obits

I had a tough morning.  The kind of morning that makes you crawl in a hole or run away from home.  I did neither but the day isn’t over.  Vegas is only a mere 4-hour drive away.  I looked into flights to MO but those are running 500 bills—too rich for my blood.  Since Tim is out in the good car and I’m not sure my old truck would make the drive to sin city, for some reason I re-read my friend Eddie’s obituary instead.  I read the guest book too.  Then I read my Dad’s obit page.  It’s the same funeral home for Eddie as Daddy so he’s just a click away.  With the one-year anniversary of Daddy’s death rapidly approaching, he is practically in my every waking thought...

Creating 2015—Day 42:   Productive Day

I slept last night—a juicy nine hours.  Needed it!  So, this morning I woke up refreshed and ready to kick some serious “to-do” list ass.  We skipped yoga and our walk and got right to work on the paperwork for the doc.  We finished the day’s “must-do’s” a little after 4pm and celebrated with a shorter version of the walk we skipped earlier.  It was beautiful outside!  Like summer.  What a treat.  Thankful. Uh-mazing Romantic Partner has a work dinner tonight and I will be left to my own devices.  I think a hot bath, chamomile tea and a mindless movie are in my near future.  Just typing those words made my body relax!  Can’t wait to actually do them.  It’s been an...
