A bloody day on set for me.  (Production Still from Collusions.)

What began as a question to Screenwriter Monica in the coffee shop next to the Beverly Hills Library on November 11, 2011…yes, that’s right, the magical 11/11/11…has ended in the completion of our collaboration: Collusions is finally finished.  4 years, 6 months and 5 days later. Halle-f*#kin-lujah!!!

To make it super official, I sent the announcement to the entire cast and crew this morning.  Most importantly, I let them know we’re planning a viewing party to celebrate next month!  Hearing back from three of my stars how excited they are to finally see the film made my day.

Wild eyed excitement of a NEW stage!

My current wild-eyed excitement for a NEW stage!

Granted, the film may be finished but we’re not done yet. Now we have to start submitting to film festivals, talking to all the distributor/sales agent types who have reached out to us inquiring about the film, playing on the festival circuit, getting deals for it in all markets, and, the ultimate destination:  releasing the film out into the world for all to see!

The world of distribution is a whole new ball game.  One I’ve never played before.  I’ve started to stick a toe in the batter’s box for the documentary but I’m a total rookie.  The exciting thing?  It’s a brand new stage in the process.  Sure, a tough stage, a competitive stage, some might even say a, “snowball’s chance in hell of succeeding” stage.  Give me a moment to gird my loins. But, hey, it’s new. And after being in post-production purgatory for over 3 years, NEW feels crazy good.

Until tomorrow, create from what you have…a long awaited completion.
