In the Trenches—Day 324 Year 2: GOT A MUFFIN TOP?

Day 324 Year 2:  I’m pretty much in love with Cathryn Michon and her muffin top right now.  Not sure who she is?  Or what a “muffin top” is?  Well, let me enlighten you.  A muffin top is code for the roll of fat that spills over the waistline of tight (or in my case any) pants.  Cathryn Michon is a super funny and talented actress, comedienne, writer and film director.  Oh, and, did I mention brave?  Freakishly, inspiringly brave.  ALL CAPS kinda brave.  I wasn’t familiar with her work until I ran across a tweet about her Kickstarter campaign on Twitter that caught my attention.  And I’m not afraid to admit that even though I’d never seen or read any of her work...

In the Trenches—Day 323 Year 2: BREAKING BOTOX

Day 323 Year 2:  This past weekend—November 16th & 17th—I attended Tom Provost’s 2-day seminar, Cinema Language:  The Art of Storytelling.  It was the perfect introduction for my headspace as a writer and creative producer who is in the middle of developing two films right now.  It centered around Tom’s presentation on film grammar and using it to introduce your character and disclose information to the audience.  He uses mostly popular films, a few obscure ones, and his directorial debut film The Presence, as case studies.  His passion for cinema is palpable as he presents his knowledge, insights and experiences.  I’m still digesting everything but I thoroughly...

In the Trenches—Day 318 Year 2: THE LANGUAGE OF CINEMA

Day 318 Year 2: I am a lover of film.  And like my taste in music—I love everything from Chopin to The Charlie Daniels Band—my taste in movies is broad.  It ranges from Suddenly Last Summer to The Hangover—two of my all time favs.  I don’t have “a type” or a genre. I grew up with movies.  My mom loves them and I inherited that gift from her.   Films we would watch over and over again included The Big Chill, The Searchers, All About Eve, Rear Window, The Quiet Man, Dressed to Kill, of course the Star Wars trilogy, Jaws, Stripes, Caddyshack, The Shining, The Exorcist and Christine.  A cinema snob, I am not, but I love art-house, foreign and niche films as well....

In the Trenches—Day 316 Year 2: DREAMS

Day 316 Year 2:  It’s a very dreamy Tuesday so far!  I just posted half a dozen new dreams in the Declare Your Dream Experimental Motivation Project.  They are so amazing!  PLUS, they bring our total number of dreams up to 198.  198!  Wow.  My heart has doubled in size because of this experiment.  The Dreamers have been welcomed, their dreams prayed for and released to the Universe to manifest and I have placed them in the sacred space to join our growing dream community.  May all of your dreams come true! Visit SeeADream.com to see all the dreams and get motivated to get dreamy today yourself. And speaking of dreams, I’ve fallen in love with a Kickstarter campaign from...

In the Trenches—Day 314 Year 2: BIRTH

Day 314 Year 2: Birth.  Buuuuuuurrrrrrrth.  The word itself sounds deep and meaningful and existential.  That’s because it is!  It’s everything.  Here’s a definition from my Microsoft Word Reference Tools Dictionary: Birth (verb):  ( to give birth) 1.  To produce a child or young from the womb; 2.  To originate or be responsible for creating something. Birth is creation.  Without it nothing would exist. It was a week of births!  Three of them to be exact—my favorite number. 1.  I was born this past week.  Thanks Mom and Dad! 2.  Ridiculously Generous, Amazingly Talented and Very Successful Actress Friend had her baby on my birthday—three weeks early!  Best...
