Creating 2015—Day 90:   Vegas Baby, Vegas

We are jumping on a plane this afternoon to fly out to Vegas for a party tonight.  It’s the 30th anniversary of the Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade Show.  The founder of it, Jon Taffer, is also the host of Bar Rescue, which Uh-mazing Romantic Partner executive produced up until end of January of this year.  And Jon is throwing a Bar Rescue party. Bring on the hangover. Until tomorrow, create from what you have…parties. Creating 2015—Day 89:   What’s my vision?

I had a meeting with my first potential director for Death Over 3 Bottles of Wine yesterday.  I did not send her the script prior to our meeting because my goal was to simply have us meet and get a vibe for who we are as people.  Which, I believe, we did.  I really liked her!  But, in hindsight, it was premature to meet as far as the project goes.  Potential Director had questions I couldn’t answer.  I had concerns about her lack of actual filmmaking experience.  I knew we were in trouble when one of her requirements, if she were to direct, was to be paid.  Uh-oh.  No-Budget filmmaking is not for the faint of heart. I explained to Potential Director that none of my...

Creating 2015—Day 88:   Family Matters

The name of my first “production company” was called Crazy 8 Productions.  It was the banner under which I produced my first film, Wait A Minute—a 10-minute short about a twenty something’s struggle with the passage of time and aging.  I was 28 at the time and my family was everything to me.  Eight was a magical number to me because there were eight members of my immediate family—my two parents, five siblings and me.  It was that tight knit, incredibly close and supportive “crazy 8” plus many of my extended family members that made that film happen. The year was 1996.  Back then we didn’t have Kickstarter or Indiegogo and neither myself nor my family had signed up for...

Creating 2015—Day 87:   A Big Day

Today was a big day for two different people in my life for two different reasons.  For one friend it was her 31st birthday today.  She was celebrating with cocktails by 10am in Palm Springs.  For my other friend it was the three-year anniversary of her beloved husband’s transition from this world into the next.  She spent the day with her daughter “mixing the sad with the glad” and Remembering Forward. I found myself on an emotional roller coaster throughout the day. Pondering the exciting life  ahead for my young friend. Pondering the impact my other friend’s husband had on me during my brief encounters with him—how much grace and love and light he emitted.  And how...

Creating 2015—Day 86:   “All Is Lost”

I finally had a chance to watch All Is Lost on Netflix today.  I often watch movies that match my mood.  And today, I was feeling all is lost.  I’m not sure what is up with the funk I’m in.  I need to work on that.  All Is Lost is a man versus the sea kind of film.  Literally.  It’s just Robert Redford on a sinking boat trying to keep it afloat and stay alive for almost two hours. There are maybe 10 lines of dialogue in the whole thing—not that I counted.  Despite the lack of talking, it was pretty compelling.  But it did lose my interest a few times.  Full disclosure, during those moments, I fast-forwarded…big chunks.  Which is a very bad habit of mine...

Creating 2015—Day 85:   Sleep Farting

I am woken up by the sound of Uh-mazing Romantic Partner’s sleepy laughter.  Annoyed, I mumble, “What?”  “You’re farting in your sleep. You woke me up.”  I assume he’s fucking with me.  I go back to sleep.  Cut to a few hours later.  This time, I am the one woken up…by my sleep fart! “That was me,”  I groggily exclaim.  “I told you,” he mumbles, his turn to be annoyed.  This has never happened to me before in my life! I’m freaked out to say the least.  I’ve heard of sleepwalking, sleep talking, even sleep orgasm’ing.  But I’ve never heard of sleep farting.  Not to mention that I would never have imagined that I could be the perpetrator!  What in the...

Creating 2015—Day 84:   Wonky Wednesday

I wake up feeling wonky.  Allergies?  Fighting something off?  Weather change?  PMS?  Not exactly sure what is going on.  Could be any or all of it.  Regardless of the root cause, I am officially taking it easy today.  I can’t get sick right now! There is too much to do and I have two meetings tomorrow I’ve been looking forward to for weeks.  There is hot tea with lemon and a eucalyptus bath in my near future. Until tomorrow, create from what you have…wonky days. Creating 2015—Day 83:   Tuesday Transition

Uh-mazing Romantic Partner started his new show and had to go into his new office yesterday morning.  In other words, he left me!  I have loved having him home for the last almost two months.  We’ve been able to focus on our films and get into a nice healthy routine with nutrition and exercise.  But now he’s gone again.  Technically he doesn’t start traveling until the beginning of May but I’m feeling the withdrawal symptoms already. Yesterday I found myself feeling super mad…at him.  At first I couldn’t figure out why I was so pissed off at him but I was.  It snowballed until I was pretty much ready to divorce him—even though we aren’t married.  Then on our walk...

Creating 2015—Day 82:   Kinky Sue

I just had a chance to catch up on last Thursday’s episode of Scandal.  I absolutely loved Lena Dunham in it!  Her character, Kinky Sue, had written a tell-all book about her, well, kinky sexipades with a dozen of DC’s political powerhouses.  One of those aforementioned lovers nicknamed Dustbuster—I had no idea what it meant—also happened to be Abby’s current lover.  Abby blew a gasket and called in Olivia Pope to fix it.  Olivia shamed Lena’s character Kinky Sue and bullied her into realizing she was going to be called a whore as well as ruin these men’s lives.  Problem fixed.  But wait!  Kinky Sue shows up at Olivia’s office the next day and demands three million...
