Creating 2015—Day 120: Website Back Up

My site had a bit of a snafu today.  None of the pages would load.  That’s a problem.  My wonderful website designer/master John Hauser sleuthed it out and fixed it.  So, now the site is back up and working!  Thank you, John!!!! I apologize to everyone who was trying to get on and read any of the content today!  And a HUGE thank you to everyone who reached out to me and let me know there was an issue. Rock stars, all of you!!! Until tomorrow, create from what you have…a down website. Creating 2015—Day 119: Deep Cleanse

I am cleansing again.  I decided to do another 11-days after a three-day break which included Crown Royal and Australian Wagyu.  I started on Monday so this is the third day.  I had intended to take today and tomorrow away from everything for some inward contemplation, meditation and refilling of my creative well because they are deep cleanse days—AKA pretty much fasting days.  So far that hasn’t worked out so great!  Bills, emails, twitter, dishes, my mind getting in the way.  But now, most of those things have been tended too.  And it’s time.  Time to unplug.  Time to disengage from my raging ego.  Time to open my heart.  Time to connect to source—faith, trust, love. ...

Creating 2015—Day 118: My Completion Trap

Have you ever read The Three Sisters by Anton Chekhov?  Olga, the oldest sister, hates her gig as a high school teacher and is only sustained by her dream of returning to Moscow.  Masha, the middle sister, is the unhappily married pragmatist who doesn’t think they have a snowball’s chance in hell of ever getting back to Moscow—she’s who I played in my college acting class.  Irina, the youngest and most naïve sister, is obsessed with finding true love and happiness in Moscow.  She begs her sister Olga:   “Let’s go to Moscow! I implore you, let’s go! There’s nothing better than Moscow on earth!”  Moscow, Moscow, Moscow!  If we could only get to Moscow,...

Creating 2015—Day 117: Monday Marvel

My word for today is “marvel.”  No, not the comic book conglomerate.  The noun.  Mondays are wonderful things to me.   I’ve always loved them.  They feel like a fresh start.  They are full of promise.  They are a new beginning.  Another chance to get it done, get it right, get it going—whatever “it” is. Also, the verb.  How wonderful is it to marvel at something?  To be amazed at the beauty in the world.  To be amazed at the ability of your fingers to peel a banana.  To be amazed by the power of your feet to take you up a hill.  To be amazed at the power of creating something, however small. Here’s a sneak peek at a still of me from Collusions, a movie I am still...

Creating 2015—Day 116:   Unfinished To-Do List

Today was one of those days where I’m like, “wait, did we get anything done we set out to get done?” The answer was yes, some, but no, not all. It was an ambitious Sunday list mixed with personal stuff and work stuff and fun stuff.  We got a little in for each but so many things were left undone I’m reeling in horror at the thought of tomorrow morning and all that will need to be tackled.  Overwhelmed is an understatement.  But, at the same time, I’m like, it is what it is.  So, I am going to surrender to the incompletion.  I am surrendering to the incompletion.  Right now. I’m breathing. Surrendering. Breathing. Surrendering. Ahhhhh, there it is. As Scarlett says,...

Creating 2015—Day 114: Cleanse Completion

I actually succeeded at something!  We started an 11 day cleanse and yesterday was the last day.  I made it!  Cue the trumpets, balloons and confetti.  Woo hoo!  It’s the little victories, right? The cleanse was less about losing weight and more about taking back control of my health from the tyranny of my out of control hormones.  I am regrouping this morning and figuring out where I want to go next with my health.  The obvious answer is to keep going until I reach the coveted “optimal” state.  But it’s fascinating when you throw in the barrage of the aging process that is working against you.  What, exactly, is optimal now probably isn’t the same as it was a decade...

Creating 2015—Day 113: Research & Development

My creative muscle is actually weak quite right now.  So, I spent the day in research and development mode.  I set a goal to research and come up with at least five new ideas every two weeks to potentially develop further.  The exercise is about being prolific but also about not getting too attached to any one concept.  And honestly, I just want to leap right now.  Leap into my creative core without judgment, without fear, without censoring myself, without needing validation. “We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down.”                                                                                                     —Kurt...

Creating 2015—Day 112:   Two Challenges

Rejection in the last 48 hours has pommeled me.  All I can say is, “Owwwwwwww!”  It hurts.  But, my skin is gaining thickness with every blow.  The pain lasted for less than a day with the first punch and the one I got today only hurt for about 10 minutes.  I am getting stronger! In the past, certainly pre-Experiment in Prolific Creativity, I would have curled up in a ball and stayed there for at least a week, maybe a month, maybe longer, licking my wounds and crying like a little bitch—wallowing in my pain feeling powerless and like a victim.  It’s so tempting and easy to do.  But my new mantra is, bring it on!  Tim and I’s joke is we are Kevin Bacon in Animal...
