Day 182: Do I have a problem?

Day 182.  As anyone reading my daily reports lately knows, I am new to, and, newly addicted to Twitter.  I can’t shut up about it.  It’s driving me crazy.  It’s like I’m 13 and Twitter is Justin Beiber!  Facebook?  Old news.  Twitter is my Romeo now.  Oh Twitter, Twitter, where for art tho, Twitter?  Oh holy tweeting madness—it must stop!  If you’ve been reading, you’ll also know I said the exact same thing last weekend on Day 174: Twittervention.  I technically didn’t tweet but I didn’t fully let go of the connection either.  I kept following back anyone who followed me!  It seems so rude not to follow back right away.  I did the exact same...

Day 181: Profit, Passion & Meaning

Day 181.  Blake Mycoskie started something that mattered to him.  That something was TOMS.  His title in the company:  Chief Shoe Giver.  The story is remarkable.  I’m not going to lie, I’d never heard of him or his shoes until I stumbled on his book, Start Something That Matters.  I read it at the end of 2011 when I was formulating my new venture and beginning to put together my business plan.  In a nutshell, it’s ridiculously inspiring.  He created a for-profit business that has a sustainable and large philanthropic aspect to it—and it’s a big fat financial success.  He calls his business model, “One for One.”  You buy a pair of his shoes and a pair is given to a...

Day 180. Twitter Motivation

Day 180.  Today I learned that in Brazil they speak Portuguese, not Spanish.  Who knew?  Probably a lot of people, just not me.  Not my proudest tweet.  I’m practicing my French with a woman whose dream is to live in France someday.  And I’ve met a delightful astrologist, Alayna, in Indiana, who reminded me that Mercury goes retrograde on July 15th.  I’d better get those contracts signed!  I’ve connected with, learned from and been motivated by almost everyone I have followed or who has followed me on Twitter.  There are too many to list in one daily report but here are a couple more I just can’t resist. There’s this indie filmmaker, AD Lane, and a group of kids...

Day 179: What really matters?

Day 179. Perhaps it’s the delirium of fever or that I’m premenstrual, or a combo of both, but I can’t stop thinking about these crazy wildfires which in turn is making me think about everyone I love and care about.  It’s making me quite sentimental and weepy.  I just heard that two old friends in the Denver area are safe.  That’s a relief.  Rain dancing will be my exercise for the day. I went through something similar but on a smaller scale back in 2009 when the foothills by my house were on fire.  I actually had to fly home early from the play I was doing in NYC to potentially evacuate—I was packed and ready with birth certificates and insurance information at the...

Day 178: Slowing Down

Day 178.  I find myself nursing an ear infection, sore throat and overall wonky ache.  I started antibiotics this morning—hoping they make me feel better very fast because I have an event I really want to go to tonight.  In the meantime, I realize being sick sucks but it also forces me to slow down.  And I need to slow down.  Twitter has me going a mile a minute.  It’s a fast, intense, continual connection with new people and new energy.  I actually love it.  I realize it blew up several years ago so I’m quite behind the times.  I’m always late to the party.  I liked Seinfeld after it went off the air.  I watch repeats of Friends now, never watched it when it was...

Day 176: A Serious Dream

Day 176.  I decide to go for an extra long walk.  I’m up to two walks a day—one in the am and one in the pm.  I missed both yesterday.  Donning a seriously large straw hat and my prized fanny pack that was given to me by Joie de vivre I think like 19 years ago—it had been her mother’s before she passed and I always think of her when I have it on…I probably shouldn’t admit this but Jessica visits me in my dreams usually about once a year, and, I believe, she guards me from the judgmental and negative stares I receive while wearing her fanny pack…hopefully, she throws in some protection from the judging of the hat for good measure—I set out.  The sun is shining, the birds...

Day 175: Weekend Creativity

Day 175.  Okay.  Considering I’ve taken the last four days off to go on a Twittercation, I feel it’s best to make it a weekend of productivity and creativity.  It’s time to actually do something instead of connect and tweet all day long.  And because I’m a compulsive confessor, let me confess up front, I signed onto Twitter this morning.  I know, I know!  WTF?  Right?  Well, I said it was a twittervention not that I’d leave right away for rehab!  Kelly Clair, if you’re reading this, I’m very sorry that I relapsed on the first day.  Love me anyway?  BUT, in my defense, I only signed on to follow back some new followers and to...

Day 174: Twittervention!

Day 174.  Wow.  I feel like I’ve just come off a three-day Vegas trip with Hunter S. Thompson and Johnny Depp!  But I wasn’t on cocaine or heroin or psychedelics.  I was on Twitter!  Sheesh.  No wonder I haven’t finished my screenplay!  That’s it.  I’m cut off. Such an interesting experience!  I can see why people love it so much.  It’s an amazing tool for connecting and sharing information.  It’s also an instant conversation with people you wouldn’t necessarily talk with.  I’ve thoroughly enjoyed connecting with @smallblondhippy in Derbyshire, England and @larissar6 in Phoenix and @roxanamjones in San Jose and every one of my followers and I’ve followed all...
