Aunt Louise passed away yesterday. So sad to find this out. My cousin Pam and cousin Donna reached out via email this morning saying they’d seen a Facebook post about someone writing they’d miss Aunt Lou and was wondering what was up. I was no help at all. I neither knew nor had heard anything. I called my mom at 7:30am, right after getting the email from my cousins. Mom hadn’t heard anything either.
Aunt Lou was one of my Dad’s older sisters. She lived in Illinois with her husband Bob so I didn’t get to see her that much over the years. Just at family reunions and once when she was out in California for Thanksgiving at my Aunt Norma’s house. I remember her as warm and caring and when she laughed, she would close her eyes. She had a great laugh. I am so sad I won’t hear that laugh again. She loved to learn and teach and write. She was smart, creative and spiritual. A beautiful combination.
I remember the fun we had when I visited her and Uncle Bob in August of 1993 when I was in Chicago doing a trade show. This is a little random and I can’t be 100% sure but, I think we watched the movie Thelma & Louise in their basement during my visit? It was one of my all time favorite movies at the time. Still is. I will never forget their kindness and hospitality. I am sending my love and deepest condolences to Uncle Bob and their family.
I hope you are busy swapping stories with my Dad, Aunt Lou! Take care of each other and keep an eye out on the rest of us down here. Rest in peace. You will be missed and remembered always.
Until tomorrow, create from what you have…a death in the family.
