Day 166: Social Media is distracting me!

Day 166. What is it about social media that stops me from doing any actual real work?!?  All week I’ve made a point of not letting myself check Facebook or Twitter or even my own website’s comments or emails until the end of the day, AFTER I’d actually done something.  This morning, I made the mistake of doing it backwards.  I checked everything before I started writing.  Big mistake.  Next thing I know, hours have passed and I haven’t worked on my script yet!  Oy.

Tweet face HELP! I'm trapped in social media!

I realize for those who are in marketing twitting and facebooking and such is their actual job.  But the world at large has to actually operate and function from doing things and making things and producing things, real things—buildings and cars and books.  And in my case, screenplays and movies and articles.  I get that social media is a vital part of connecting and updating and staying in touch—Twitter is like an instant Nielsen’s Rating Box.   Which is great, but at some point, real work has to be done, real things have to made, or there’s nothing to watch, there’s nothing to tweet about.  Know what I’m saying?

With that said, please connect with me via all the social media sites!

Please follow the new venture on Twitter:

Please go “like” the Facebook page:

And please Subscribe!  Subscribe box is at the bottom left side of any page on the website, Think Outside The Box Inside The Box.  You’ll get a confirmation email where you click on a link to confirm you want to subscribe.  I’ve had a few friends have to do it a few times in order to get the confirmation email.  I’m trying to work out the kinks.  Just keep subscribing until you get the email.

And now I have to go do something real, like finish writing my screenplay so I can make a real movie.  Then I’ll have something to tweet about.

Until tomorrow, create from what you have…and do something real.
