Creating 2015—Day 32:   Fresh Start February

As My Homecoming King’s family prepares to receive friends and family at the Roberson’s Funeral Home today, I say a prayer for them the second my eyes pop open this morning.  Then I immediately give thanks for waking up alive with air in my lungs!  Woo hoo!  I give thanks for Uh-mazing Romantic Partner.  You are the most amazing man and I love you so much!  I give thanks for my amazing Mother, sisters, brothers, Aunt Wanda, Uncle Fred, and all of my incredible friends.  Thank you for being so generous with your love and support!  I love you all so much!  I give thanks that my brother John was born today.  Happy birthday, brother John!  I give thanks that it is February 1st.  I love me a new month!  The first day of a new month is exciting.  It’s a gift.  The gift of a second chance, a fresh start.

One thing I am starting fresh today is the Clean Cleanse by Alejandro Junger, M.D. The official tag of the book: “The Revolutionary Program to Restore the Body’s Natural Ability to Heal Itself.”  It’s a 21-day health and nutrition program.  I don’t buy anything from his website for it.  I have the book (you can borrow it) and I make everything from scratch and personalized to my tastes based on the general guidelines of the cleanse.  And it’s awesome.  I’ve done it several times before in the past but it’s been years since I’ve done one.  Dear Friend reminded me about it the other day when we were at breakfast.  She was on day 12 of it at the time.  Not going to lie, she was a little hungry BUT, she was really starting to feel the energy and clarity that comes with cleaning out your system.  She just finished yesterday.  Quite an accomplishment!  And very inspiring.  After months of traveling off and on and not so clean living, I could really use a cleanse right now!

Who's ready to get Clean?

Who’s ready to get Clean?

The thing I love most about the Clean Cleanse is that you eat!  Real food.  I can’t do those processed programs or, even worse, those liquid only, lemonade and cayenne pepper, juice fasts anymore.  I’ve been down that road before and I don’t wish to travel there ever again.  For starters, fasting doesn’t work for me anymore because of my blood sugar issues.  But, cutting out booze, sugar, processed food, known allergen foods, dairy and gluten for three weeks does work for me.  The focus is fresh, whole foods with a yummy protein smoothie for breakfast, a delicious main meal consisting of lots of salad, veggies, and lean protein for lunch, and a soup, fresh juice or smoothie for dinner.  Personally, I never let myself feel crazy hungry.  I’m not a fan of hunger.  I add in a couple snacks throughout the day if I need them: veggies and hummus or an apple with nut butter or a pear and coconut butter, etc.  It’s about building strength and health, not deprivation.

My two main reasons for doing it are my health and to gain clarity.  As I mentioned in my post yesterday, I am meditating on which goals to set for the year so getting clear is vital.  As far as my health goes, I have a follow up with my doctor in April to check a bunch of my blood work and make sure I’m all good in a couple areas including blood sugar levels and cholesterol.  So, after eating and drinking my way from Mexico to Sonoma in January, I definitely need a fresh start with my health!  Who’s with me?!

Until tomorrow, create from what you have…a new month for a fresh start.
