Morning Motivation — How do you free your mind?

Posted by

How do you free your mind?   How do you free your mind—meditation, exercise, a hot bath, being in nature, hiking, spending time with friends, reading a book?  Take the time to do it.  If you’re feeling stuck in reality, trapped by your circumstances, held prisoner by your beliefs choose to free your mind—if only for a brief moment—and allow yourself to dream.  Give yourself permission to envision what you have to create from forming, morphing and growing into creative combinations that will expand you, your family, your financial security and your life! Free your mind and dream. Create your dreams from what you have. What are you going to create?...

In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 300—Finally!

Day 300:  I actually fired up the Avid and did a full scene yesterday!  Woo hoo!  Scene 10 is done…for now.  It was supposed to be three minutes and it’s five and I’m sure we’ll need to dial in and swap out a lot of the reality footage I used to visualize the scene, but, Producing Partner and I watched it down last night via cyberspace.  He’s in New Orleans on a shoot.  I might have been delirious after 10 hours of editing but I really liked the scene!  He might have been bullshitting me but he said he really liked it too.  BS’ing or not, I’ll take it.  I need it.  Confidence has not been high as I’ve attempted to make my rather bumpy transition back into my editing...

Morning Motivation — Where are you putting your attention?

Posted by

Where are you putting your attention?   You control what you pay attention to.  What you look at, where you go, who you’re with, how you spend your time—these are all within your power to change, tweak and revise.  Are you putting your attention on what matters to you?  Are you putting your attention on where you want to go?  Are you putting your attention on what you want to create?  Whether you choose to pay attention to gossip and negative thought or, pay attention to facts and positive ideas, it’s up to you.  Put your attention on what expands you, on what helps you, and, on what you want to create. Focus your attention on what you want to create. What are you...

In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 299—This happens every time!

Day 299:  OMG!  What is wrong with me?  When it comes to going to work on the editing I’m like a toddler at bedtime who doesn’t want to go to sleep!  I have to pee—I’m hungry—One more story.  And of course, the final full on tantrum of tears before actually falling asleep happens—or in my case, actually doing any editing happens.  That was yesterday for me!  UGH.  Seriously, every effing time! It’s like I have to go through the five stages of grieving before I can finally begin.  I’m in denial.  What documentary?  I’m in bargaining.   Should I just look for another editor?  I’m angry.  This film has destroyed my life!  Then I’m depressed.  Oh dear god, I’ll never ever...

Morning Motivation — Will you go the distance?

Posted by

Will you go the distance?   Whatever you set out to create will you go the distance to actually complete creating it?  Even when it seems clear what it will take to create something, we can never know for sure how long or how far we will have to go to see it through to completion.  Instead of trying to see into the future stay focused on the here and now—the destination will arrive soon enough.  Simply keep creating until you go the distance and reach completion.  No matter how far you have to go, keep creating until you get there. Create until you cover the distance to completion. What are you going to create?...

In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 298—What can happen in 68 days?

Day 298:  68 days.  Including today.  That’s what we have left in 2012.  If you believe the world is going to end when the Mayan calendar does, then we only have 58 days left.  Wow.  This year has flown by.  Would I still think it went so fast if I wasn’t counting down the days?  Probably. So, what can happen in 68 days?  A lot, I hope!  But a better question is what am I going to do during and with these last 68 days of 2012?  Yes, definitely a good question.  One I know the answer to.  Whether I actually “do” the answer, well, that’s TBD. The four things I plan to do in the next 68 days include: 1.  I’m going to finish my editing pass—or die trying if the world does...

Morning Motivation — Are you at an end or a beginning?

Posted by

Are you at an end or a beginning?   If you are at the end or at the beginning—of a week, of a job, of a relationship, of a career, of a project, of a trip—don’t get lost in the idea of it.  The excitement of a beginning can propel you forward or the sadness and loss of an ending can stop you.  Regardless of where you are, if you are always creating from wherever you are with whatever you have at any given period in your life it allows you to continue a constant chain of creating.  Keep creating no matter where you are. At an ending…create from it. At a beginning….create from it. Somewhere in the middle…create from it. What are you going to create?...

In The Trenches—The Founder’s Daily Report: Day 297—A Trip’s End

Day 297: It is 4:30am CST and I’m awake, packing up and getting ready to head to the airport with Eye Doc Sis.  Her surprise birthday weekend was a smash and a blast.  And now, it’s time to say goodbye and return to our normal lives.  It’s an ending and a beginning wrapped up in one.  Our visit is over but she’s just beginning this next solar return.  My trip is at its end but I’m just beginning my final editing crusade.  It’s a mixed bag of nostalgia, sadness and excitement I have to create from today. Until tomorrow, create from what you have…endings and beginnings. Kelli Joan Bennett is a filmmaker, actress, writer, entrepreneur, advocate for creative thinking and...

What’s your paradise?   Every person has their own idea of paradise—the tropical island, the idyllic countryside, a bustling city, the day without screaming children.  Whether you are in these exact locations or not doesn’t matter.  You still have control of whether you are in paradise.  Shift your thinking.  Adjust your attitude.  Wherever you are.  Whatever you have.  Whoever you’re with.  You are exactly where paradise is!  It’s your choice.  Make the choice to create paradise wherever you are with whatever you have right now and in the process be empowered and happier.
